The influx of drivers at gas stations slows down the bonus systems

First day of discounts at gas stations and first computer setbacks when managing the reduction of 20 euro cents per liter of fuel due to the large influx of customers to service stations from early in the morning. Many drivers had waited for this April 1 during the last days to take advantage of the price reduction that is in force from today until June 30.

Repsol, the company with the most extensive network of service stations in Spain (about 3,300 throughout the country) admits having registered “some slowdown in the systems” due to the rebound in refueling during the early hours of the morning of a day that In addition, it implies the beginning of the weekend. This peak of operations has caused some delays in the applications that the oil companies have enabled in recent days to point out their own discounts as well as the one that is required, by law, of 15 euro cents per liter on behalf of the State.

In any case, both Repsol and sources from other companies indicate that operations at its service stations are working “totally normal” when it comes to serving customers, refueling and making the corresponding payments with bonuses.

All service stations are obliged to apply an initial discount of 15 cents per liter to their prices, on account of the State; plus another five cents that they must contribute out of their pocket. In total, 20 cents, at least. The small and medium-sized owners can get rid of those five cents, which will also be covered by the Treasury.

Repsol lowers up to 30 cents

However, among the big ones, the movements are being considerable. Repsol has just announced that customers who use its free Waylet app have an additional discount of another 10 euro cents per liter, in addition to the 20 cent bonus approved by the Government and other usual discounts, when applicable. In these cases, the price reduction reaches a minimum of 30 euro cents per liter of fuel.

Customers who do not use Waylet have an additional discount of 5 euro cents per liter of fuel on top of the 20 cent bonus approved by the Executive. Therefore, the price reduction in these cases is 25 cents in total.

For carriers, Repsol also offers a minimum discount of 10 euro cents per liter to professionals who have the Solred card, to which must also be added the 20 cents offered by the Government, so the minimum discount will be 30 euro cents per litre. The offer is compatible with others that carriers and self-employed Repsol customers already receive through this card. Carriers and professionals who do not use Solred have an additional discount of 5 euro cents per liter of fuel over the 20 cent bonus approved by the Government. Therefore, the price reduction in these cases is 25 cents in total.

Advance to gas stations

On the other hand, the owners of service stations will be able to start requesting from this Friday the advance payment to the Tax Agency of the fuel bonuses approved by the Executive and the Treasury plans to start transferring the money from next week. As of today, a form will be made available on the Tax Agency’s page that will have to be completed by all gas stations that are interested in requesting the advance payment.

“Above all, we think of small gas stations and those that are not linked to a business group,” the head of the Treasury, María Jesús Montero, remarked yesterday, who assured that a large part of the stations will be able to benefit from this advance, although he foresees that there will be some that have the capacity and financial muscle to face the expense.

The form will be published in the electronic headquarters of the Tax Agency and in it the service stations will only have to fill in the identification data and a bank account number in which the advance must be paid. To present the form, authentication with the Clave system or electronic certificate is required.
