The Local Police attribute more than 50 graffiti made in Elche and Santa Pola to a graffiti artist

A young man in his twenties Elche, but currently resident in Santa Pola, has been denounced by the Local Police of Elche as the alleged author of at least fifty signatures that have been photographed and filed in a file in which, by handwriting evidence, he is identified as the sole author of all of them. He was arrested in the middle of “work”, with a spray can with which, for four euros, he has shown that it can cause a huge damage to urban furniture. The agents had been on his trail for a long time but the change of residence had complicated his location until he found him in Santa Pola and without the possibility of denying the authorship, according to sources of the investigation explained to the newspaper.

In fact, the Local Police of Elche, which together with that of Santa Pola and the Elche Police Station have participated in this investigation, considers that they are the author of damages worth more than 7,000 euros in urban furnitureAlthough it is believed that part of his “work”, yet to be discovered, is expected to be found in the Marina Baixa, in municipalities such as La Vila or Benidorm, where he met with other young people for this same activity. The agents consider that, within the scale of the graffiti artists, it is still a TAG; that is to say, a person who is still starting out with what he or she paints is a previously memorized line, which becomes his mark and identifies him in front of others. From there to painting other objects there is only one step.

The investigation of these graffiti began almost a year ago through an attribution technical report carried out by the Graphics Section of the Urbanity and Environment Unit of the Elche police.

After his arrest, he was made available to the Court of Instruction 2 of Elche, which proceeded to release him, at the request of the prosecutor, since the crime that entails damages does not justify the precautionary measure since it is from one to three years and a fine from 12 to 24 months.

The Graphics Section was launched five years ago in Elche and in this time it has managed to identify a score of authors of graffiti. Most of them have admitted the facts that were attributed to them by the investigators because the handwriting evidence that is provided is unquestionable.

“The operation is the result of close collaboration between the police of Elche, Santa Pola and the CNP police station in the city of palms. In addition, in the coming days, the one in Elche will contact the security forces of other municipalities near the capital of Baix Vinalopó, since the Urbanity and Environment Unit has detected graffiti of the same authorship in other towns of the Valencian Community “, ends the official statement.
