The mayor of Cáceres requested that the audio on the opposition of the Local Police be delivered to the Prosecutor’s Office

«I suggested that this audio be obtained and made available to the Prosecutor’s Office. But since he was already in the Prosecutor’s Office, what we have done is collaborate.” In these terms, the mayor of Cáceres, Luis Salaya, has ruled on the alleged leaks in the opposition to the Local Police in which eight vacancies pending coverage in the workforce were called through the free shift.

Salaya admits, as the Councilor for Human Resources also advanced, that he has not listened to the audio in which recommendations were supposedly given on the topics that could be included in the exam. “We were aware of this situation and it came to us through CSIF,” highlights the councilor. It was that union that went with the document to the Prosecutor’s Office in order to clarify what happened and assess whether there was a possible illegality. In any case, as Salaya recalls, it was the examining court that, in view of the situation, chose to continue with the selection process.

“We have not heard those audios. Not because we didn’t want to have them, but because they weren’t sent to us », she sums up.

Luis Salaya, in an appearance before the media, has insisted that it was the court that chose to continue. “The government team is not there nor does it make decisions,” he clarifies.

«It was decided to wait for the investigation of the Prosecutor’s Office and fully collaborate with it in what we can contribute. And I already say that it will be little because we are not the ones with the most information, not having been able to even get that audio, ”says the mayor.

In a more personal assessment, the councilor has pointed out that it will be necessary to see if what has happened is a violation of the Law. «It is not even clear that this audio raises something that is illegal. Recommendations on what may or may not enter an exam depending on who the president of the court may be. If years ago a colleague asked me why he can enter an exam, I could tell him that the professor likes European International Law, but from then on that professor told me that… There we would have a problem, but That will have to be investigated by the Prosecutor’s Office and if it decides to go ahead, the judge will solve it, “he concludes.

“What was involved in this matter is that someone pointed out some issues that the president of the court liked. What he was doing was recommending some topics », details the mayor.

For Salaya, the case is at the expense of the steps taken by the Prosecutor’s Office once CSIF sends him the sound document. The Consistory, as the Councilor for Employment, Andrés Licerán, has already advanced, collaborates in everything that is in its hand with the Public Prosecutor’s Office.

Luis Salaya has referred to the fact that this type of situation does not contribute to offering the best image of personnel selection processes, not only in the case of the City Council but of the entire Public Administration. The feeling remains that the processes are not clean, although later these alleged illegalities are not proven, he praises him. “These processes are very worrying and cause the Administration’s image to deteriorate. We trust that it will come to nothing but the image is already damaged », he assumes.

“It is a painful and complex issue,” Salaya abounds, believing that the general rule is that “the processes are clean.”
