The El Cub room of the Museum of the University of Alicante opens this afternoon, at 6:00 p.m., a new exhibition of the Contemporary Art Meetings (EAC), organized together with the Alicante Institute of Culture Juan GIl-Albert. A total of 24 proposals, individual and collective, created by 27 artists, have been selected from among the 128 creations submitted to this year’s EAC call.
Of the 24 proposals selected in this call, which reaches its XXI edition, twelve are painting, collage and drawing; eight sculptures, one photograph, five installations, two multimedia works and three videos, with the participation of 25 Spanish artists and two more from Argentina and Portugal.
The selected artists for the jury in this edition have been: Tete Alejandre; Art al Quadrat (Gema and Mónica del Rey Jordá); Aurelio Ayela; Pablo Bellot; Clara Boj & Diego Díaz; Maria Carbonell; Maite Centol; Patricia Collado; José Luis Cremades; DimaslA (Diana Lozano + Álvaro Jaén); Miquel García; María Amparo Gomar Vidal; Lara Ruiz; Valeria Maculan; Arturo Méndez; Xavier Monsalvatje; Marco Moreira; Luisa Pastor; Joaquín Peña-Toro; Miquel Ponce; Pablo Sandoval; Borja Santomé; María Tinaut and Josep Tornero.
The richness of this collective exhibition, which can be seen until July 26, is specified in a double aspect: on the one hand, the presence of artists from different generations, geographies and disciplines, which allows enriching dialogues that intensify the scope of their proposals; and on the other, the public is invited to enter a creative universe full of suggestions, questions, reflections and unexpected findings.
In the jury they have participated Pilar Tébar Martínez, director of the Alicante Institute of Culture Juan Gil-Albert; Isabel Tejeda Martin, PhD in BBAA from the UPV, professor at the University of Murcia, art critic and curator; Susana Guerrero Sempere, doctor in BBAA from the UMH, visual artist and professor at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the UMH; Massimo Pisani, artist, cultural manager, member and founder of the Cultural Association “Un Argine all’Arte” in Casale di San Martino dall’Argine (Mantova); Juan F. The University of Alicante and the Diputación de Alicante, through the Alicante Institute of Culture Juan Gil-Albert maintain a close collaboration, uninterruptedly, for 18 years, a joint effort that allows to present a new edition of the Contemporary Art Encounters. It is an opportunity for the public to share reflections and connect with new expressive languages around creation and contemporary society, through this call that has established itself as an excellent platform for debate and knowledge.
