The Trujillo Fair Institution organizes the Cheese Fair

It takes place from April 29 to May 2

The Institución Ferial de Trujillo is the organizing entity of the XXV edition of the National Cheese Fair that is held from April 29 to May 2 in the Plaza Mayor of Trujillo. It has a hundred exhibitors who offer a multitude of varieties of artisan cheeses to taste, coming from very diverse Spanish communities, as well as a Portuguese presence. In this edition, in addition, there are the invited regions of Galicia, with the denomination of origin of Arzúa and the Basque Country, with cheeses from Ordicia. There is no shortage of four appellations of origin from Extremadura, such as Torta del Casar, Queso Ibores, Queso de la Serena and, as a novelty, Queso de Acehúche, which is making its debut in this edition.

One of its most interesting proposals is the tasting contest, which will take place on May 1, in the categories of soft and hard cheese, sheep and goat cheese. As a novelty, there will be an innovation award, with a popular jury. These proposals join the cheese factory workshops, launched by experts from the company Lactocyex.

Friday April 29:
12.00 noon. Official opening of the fair at the Palace of the Dukes and San Carlos. At the same time, it will be the opening of the fairgrounds.
1:00 p.m. Visit of the authorities to the fairgrounds.
8:00 p.m. Closing of the fairgrounds.

Saturday April 30:
12 noon: Opening of the fairgrounds.
1:00 p.m. Cheese workshop in the Plaza Mayor led by Gustavo Martín Vidal and Juan Francisco Martín Martín, from the company Lactocyex.
8:00 p.m. Closing of the fairgrounds.

Sunday May 1:
11:00 a.m. Tasting-contest of goat and sheep cheese in the soft and hard pasta modalities in the church of La Merced. It is open to the public.
12 noon: Opening of the fairgrounds.
1:00 p.m. Cheese workshop in the Plaza Mayor led by Gustavo Martín Vidal and Juan Francisco Martín Martín, from the company Lactocyex.
5:00 p.m. Delivery of the prizes to the winners of the tasting contest at the Cajalmendralejo stand
8:00 p.m. Closing of the fairgrounds.

Monday May 2:
12.00 noon. Opening of the fairground
4:00 p.m. Closing of the fair and closing of the fairgrounds.

It has a stand of 100 square meters

The Provincial Council of Cáceres participates, one more year, in the Trujillo National Cheese Fair, not only supporting its organization, as a member of the Fair Institution, but also with its physical presence. In fact, it has a stand of one hundred square meters in one of the privileged places of the Plaza Mayor, converted into a fairground. These facilities show some of the benefits that the province has. Therefore, it becomes a claim for the thousands of visitors who attend this cheese contest.

From the fair institution it is aware that it is necessary to take advantage of the showcase of the sample to value the potentialities that different territories of Cáceres have and to make known different characteristic products. And it is that, in addition to a gastronomic fair, it becomes a tourist event.
