Agents of the General Police Information Commissary have detained, in the Toledo town of Santa Olalla to an individual for his alleged participation in the crimes of self-indoctrination, self-training and terrorist glorification. The most dangerous thing about this jihadist was not only that he had undergone a rapid process of radicalization through the massive consumption of radical content on the internet, but also that he had manuals for making explosives and making poisons, “night combat tactics” and ” sniper ”, which suggests that he was already in the phase of thinking about carrying out a terrorist attack.
The operation has been developed jointly between the General Information Commission and the National Intelligence Center (CNI), with the collaboration of the Provincial Information Brigade of Toledo. It has been coordinated by the Prosecutor’s Office of the National Court and directed by the Central Court of Instruction number 5.
The investigation began last November when experts in the fight against terrorism detected an individual aligned with the principles of Daesh who spread, through his social networks, radical and violent jihadist material. In them, terrorist attacks were encouraged.
The agents verified that among the contacts of their social networks were several jihadist profiles located in conflict zones. In addition, it made clear the advanced state of radicalization of the detainee, who viewed massively a large amount of violent material and terrorist glorification, which he collected directly from Daesh repositories.
The subject exhibited other risk behavior. Aware of your terrorist activity, took strict security measures to avoid being detected by the police services. Thus, the arrested man used antispyware applications in order to encrypt his conversations and anonymize his identity.
In the early hours of Monday, the corresponding police device was launched, practicing, in addition to the arrest of the subject, a home search where the agents seized numerous computer material. Especially significant for the research was the location of more than 60 manuals for terrorist self-training, such as: manufacturing explosives, manufacturing poisons, “night combat tactics” and “snipers”, among others. In addition, it had hundreds of videos of violent and radical content, including numerous Salafi speeches praising the martyrs of jihad.
With his arrest, the Police consider that a serious threat to Public Safety. On the morning of today, the arrested has been placed at the disposal of the Central Court of Instruction number Five, whose head has decreed his entry into prison.
