The Pope creates 21 new cardinals, including the Spanish Fernando Vérgez

On August 27, Pope Francis will create 16 new cardinals with the right to vote in a possible conclave, and another five over 80 years of age. The list includes the Spaniard Fernando Vérgez Alzaga, born in Salamanca 77 years agocivil governor of the Vatican City State, and first cardinal of the congregation of the Legionaries of Christ.
