Bendodo calls it a “big mistake” to give in to the independence movement and recalls that Moreno, Mañueco or Rueda deserve the same treatment

The PP took advantage of the meeting between the Government and the Generalitat on Wednesday to demand that Pedro Sánchez give the same treatment to the popular barons with whom the President of the Executive will meet this Thursday at the Palacio de la Moncloa: the Andalusian Juanma Moreno, the Galician Alfonso Rueda and the Castilian-Leonese Alfonso Fernández Mañueco. According to the general coordinator of the popular, Elías Bendodo, the meetings with the different regional executives should take place in the same terms and the one that concerns the Government should not be an “alibi” for “new concessions to Catalonia.”

In this sense, Bendodo pointed out that “the blackmailer is never satisfied with the first payment” and that, therefore, “giving more” to the Catalan government would be “a big mistake.” He did it even before it transpired that the agreements reached between the Government and the Govern affect what PSOE and ERC -Junts has not returned to the dialogue table- have called “dejudicialization of politics” and “commitment to promote the Catalan language” . However, the popular general coordinator pointed out that the debates that revolve around the table “do not really interest Catalan society.” And he does not, Bendodo points out, because “Sánchez’s priorities do not coincide with those of the Spanish nor those of the Generalitat with those of the Catalans.”

As far as language is concerned, one of the most important points was given by the independence movement at the end of the meeting, Bendodo believes that the Government has long been accepting as good an approach that is “wrong from the base”. «Spain is a land rich in many languages and none can be exclusive. Along the same lines, the mayor of Madrid and national export spokesman for the PP, José Luis Martínez Almeida, stated that, in his opinion, “it is surreal to meet at a dialogue table to prohibit the dialogue of the Catalans in Spanish” .

Vox maintains that the agreements reached at the table represent “Sánchez’s surrender to the enemies of the nation”

Vox also expressed its disagreement with the third dialogue table between the Government and the Generalitat. His parliamentary spokesman, Iván Espinosa de los Monteros, affirmed that what happened this Wednesday between both delegations supposes the surrender to “the enemies of the nation” by Sánchez, whom he urged once again to resign and call elections. “Spain cannot be in their hands for another minute.”

Ciudadanos, for its part, alluded to how Sánchez had already granted pardon to the imprisoned pro-independence leaders a year ago and stressed that now what ERC is asking for – in reference to the commitment of both executives to “dejudicialize the procés” what it is asking for ERC is “amnesty”.
