The Renfe train drivers’ strike reduces the AVE with Madrid and the Euromed by 40%

Renfe has reinforced since tonight communication through all its information and customer service channels with travelers who may be affected by the strike days called by Semaf. The Spanish Union of Train Drivers and Railway Helpers (Semaf), which represents 85% of Renfe train drivers, has maintained the call for a strike for September 30 and October 1, 4, 5, 8, 9, 11 and 12 , right in the bridge of El Pilar. In Alicante there has been a strike, especially the AVE line with Madrid and the Euromed, with several services suspended. The travelers have been warned and relocated to the next train. In Medium Distance trains an average of 65% of the usual services is established, and in High Speed ​​and Long Distance trains, 72%. With regard to Freight trains, a percentage of 24% of the usual service is established. In particular, Renfe has clarified that passengers affected by suppressed trains will be offered, “whenever possible, to travel on another train at the closest time to the one purchased.” However, if the passenger does not wish to travel, “he may cancel or change his ticket for another date at no cost”, which can be done in all Renfe sales channels.
