The Rey Juan Carlos I Regatta was presented El Corte Inglés Master

Sanxenxo (Pontevedra)

The English Court of Vigo has hosted this morning, at 11:00 am, the presentation ceremony of a new edition of the Rey Juan Carlos I El Corte Inglés Master Regatta. The event, which will be held this weekend in the waters of Sanxenxo, will bring together 31 teams from the 6-meter fleet to fight for the title of champion of Spain and the students of the National Adapted Sailing Center of the Pontevedra club.

The event was attended by Pati Blanco, director of Communication and Institutional Relations of El Corte Inglés in Galicia and Asturias; Pedro Campos, president of the Real Club Náutico de Sanxenxo (RCNS); Daniel Arosa, councilor for Social Services, Sports and Youth of the Sanxenxo City Council; and Manuel Villaverde, president of the Royal Galician Sailing Federation.

Pati Blanco was in charge of opening the event. After beginning by thanking the institutions for their support, as well as the RCNS for organizing one of the most anticipated regattas of the season and the media for their support in spreading the word about the event, Blanco wanted to emphasize that “After the hiatus last year, for us to be able to regain our presence in the competition and in this regatta is a milestone, and we celebrate it in a special way because in some way we also want this to be a point of evolution forward”.

“El Corte Inglés identifies a lot with all the values that this regatta brings. We hope that it has the best conditions and we also have the guarantee that it will be celebrated with all the prevention measures against Covid-19 “he added.

For his part, Pedro Campos took advantage of his intervention to explain that “When we managed to make Sanxenxo the world sailing headquarters with the European and World Championships a few years ago, due to the proximity in dates we asked that it be held immediately after the Rey Juan Carlos I El Corte Inglés Master Regatta. More than 30 boats representing eleven countries will participate in this regatta, which is something unprecedented and that has made us focus this edition on the 6 Meter class and on Adapted Sailing “.

As it could not be otherwise, and Campos has confirmed it during his speech, the regatta will be held under a strict prevention protocol against Covid-19 that will include the availability of PCR and antigen tests at the club itself thanks to collaboration with the Quironprevention team. “At the organizational level it has been a very important point. We have prepared thoroughly and have closed a collaboration agreement with Quironprevention to have direct assistance during the regatta ”, he claimed.
