The screen of the Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 could be folded in two different ways

Xiaomi’s folding phone would arrive with a surprise on the screen that would be a revolution in terms of folding phones launched so far.

Mobile phone manufacturers are betting on a future in which folding screens take center stage. To date we have seen brushstrokes of the plans that the different companies have and, although we have options and proposals, many of them fall into two categories of folding.

The first proposal being a folding shell format and where the screen folds in half horizontally, while the second proposal advocates screens that fold in half only vertically. But, what if they could be folded in two different ways? The truth is that we do not have an answer to this question.

But it is possible that Xiaomi will have it soon. The latest leaks have brought to light the plans of the Asian device firm for its folding terminals. Among what has been seen, the fact that they would be working on their Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 being able to fold in two different directions stood out.

This way of folding would be a combination of what we currently have with the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3, a tablet-type folding phone format that folds inwards, along with the folding format prototypes that came out at the start of the race to bring folding PCs to consumers.

Being this second format a folding in the same axis, but with a different direction. Come on, it could bend in and out. The curious thing about this proposal is that, in principle, the outer screen would no longer be necessary at all because, in that case, when turning outwards, the screen could already be accessed.

The leak has come thanks to the fact that XiaomiUI has investigated the source code of the new Xiaomi folding phone. In these lines what would have been seen is that the adjustments in general would indicate that the screen would have this 360 degree folding capability, If this is true, certain doubts would appear about the real operation of the device.

And, it is that, having a folding screen on the outside of the device could generate a general problem when using the device because they are not the most resistant panels on the market. What’s more, that when supporting the device it could suffer an unwanted scratch just by sitting on a surface.

We will have to wait for Xiaomi to launch this device on the market to see if these rumors end up being true. In principle, this terminal is expected to be launched in the first half of this year., although dates may vary. We will keep an eye on the rumors to inform you as soon as possible.
