The Terra Consortium organizes a technical conference in Xixona for the European Waste Prevention Week

The Terra Consortium has organized a Technical Conference on Friday, November 26, under the title ‘Re-sell your habits, reduce your waste’, aimed at municipal technicians and those responsible for the Environment areas of the different municipalities. The event, which is part of the 2021 European Waste Prevention Week, will take place from 9.30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Teatret de Xixona.

The objective of this practical conference is to provide relevant and applicable content for the improved waste management to the actors involved in this matter. The event will be attended, among other personalities, by the general director of Quality and Environmental Education of the Department of Agriculture, Rural Development, Climate Emergency and Ecological Transition, Joan Piquer; the provincial deputy for the Environment, Miguel Ángel Sánchez; the president of the Terra Consortium and mayor of Xixona, Isabel López; as well as the manager of the consortium, Pablo Martínez.

The program consists of different interventions and presentations:

9.30 a.m. to 10 a.m. Presentation by the Presidency of the Consortium, the Deputy for the Environment and the General Directorate for Quality and Environmental Education.

10.00 a.m. to 10.45 p.m. Joan Piquer’s intervention with a focus on waste prevention, degree of achievement of the PIRCVA, challenges for the year 2022, new state law and its effect at the regional and local level.

10.45 to 11.15 hours. Coffee break.

11:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Local domestic and similar waste management plans:

11:15 to 12:00: Guide for the preparation of Local Waste Plans in the province of Alicante, in charge of the waste technician of the Alicante Provincial Council Sergio Calleja.

12.00 to 12.30 hours: Local Waste Plan of the Ibi City Council, in charge of Inma Torregrosa, technical inspection of Services, and Míriam Laurí, Councilor for Public Services of the Ibi Town Hall.

12:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Circular economy and prevention in the generation of waste:

12.30 a.m. to 1.15 p.m.: The Spanish strategy and that of the Valencian Community in circular economy, in charge of Enrique López, Service for Prevention, Reuse, Promotion of Recycling and Circular Resource Management, GVA.

1:15 pm to 2:00 pm: Actions on waste prevention and circular economy, Pedro Reig, from the Association of Supermarkets of the Valencian Community (ASUCOVA).

2:00 p.m. to 2:15 p.m. Conclusions. Summary of the conference by Pablo Martínez, manager of the Terra Consortium.

The Terra Consortium has proposed the realization of these days on the occasion of the European Waste Prevention Week 2021, which aims to promote awareness-raising actions on the sustainable management of resources and waste, mainly focused on the 3Rs: Reduction of consumption, Reuse of products and materials and Recycling of waste.

The entity is formed by the municipalities of Agres, Alcoleja, Alcosser de Planes, Alfafara, Almudaina, l’Alqueria d’Asnar, Balones, Benasau, Beniarrés, Benilloba, Benillup, Benimarfull, Benimassot, Cocentaina, Facheca, Famorca, Gaianes, Gorga , Millena, Muro d’Alcoi, l’Orxa, Planes, Quatretondeta y Tollos, Alcoy, Benifallim, Ibi, Penáguila, Tibi, Agost, Aigües, Busot, Mutxamel, Sant Joan d’Alacant, San Vicente del Raspeig, La Torre de the Maçanes and Jijona. Along with these 37 local entities, they are members of the Terra Consortium, the Generalitat Valenciana and the Provincial Council of Alicante.
