The University of Alicante and the Ministry of Transparency and Participation They have signed agreements with which they undertake to promote transparency of information towards citizens as well as social responsibility.

The two agreements signed by the rector, Amparo Navarro, and the councilor Rosa Pérez Garijo, have the objective of promoting activities in matters of transparency, access to public information, good governance, open data and institutional integrity during the 2021 financial year, as well as maintaining collaboration through the Chair of Social Responsibility that both institutions started in 2017.

The agreements aim to “take advantage of the potential and knowledge of the University of Alicante and put it into practice in specific issues that contribute to improve our society through issues such as transparency or social responsibility. We have great professionals who work in these areas and these types of agreements allow them to be put into practice and make the transfer of knowledge effective ”, highlights the rector.

For her part, the councilor adds that “the Government of Botànic’s commitment to transparency and social responsibility is total, and we are not satisfied, we want to go further, We believe that citizens should know and should want to know“.

It specifies that, in this regard, “working side by side with the rest of the administrations, and especially with the universities, is essential to advance in a bet that has no turning back. Both participation, transparency, and social responsibility are cultures that must permeate society ”.


The deal about transparency plans to carry out different activities this year, as a seminar on latest perspectives on smart cities, smart territories and the internet of things; the III edition of the research awards for final degree and master’s projects; a congress on Directive 1,024 / 2019 on open data and reuse of public sector information and its impact on the Spanish regulatory framework; or the II practical course on the interrelationships between transparency regulations, citizen participation, data protection and administrative procedure, among others.

The Chair of Social Responsibility, object of the second agreement, focuses on maintaining collaboration through the institutional chair and includes the main activities planned for 2021.

In the training section, the RS-UA Chair Awards will be announced for the best master’s and bachelor’s degree projects in Social Responsibility; a Training Workshop on Entrepreneurship and Social Innovation will be held in collaboration with the Vice-Rectors for Research and Students and Employment, as well as with the Mediterranean Foundation; and the RS GVA-UA Chair Awards will be announced, together with the Mediterranean Foundation, for the best initiatives in Social Entrepreneurship within the Alicante University Impulse call, among other activities.

In research, it is planned to convene the III International Workshop on technology and work; a study on social responsibility in companies in the Community through their sustainability reports or a study and analysis of social responsibility in public administrations; in addition to other actions to disseminate the activity of the Chair of Social Responsibility.
