The Uber-like ‘app’ with which the Ukrainian artillery annihilates Russian battalions

That is the case, for example, of the GIS Arta application, a system that, thanks to the use of artificial intelligence and the Starlink satellite internet provided by Elon Musk, is allowing the Ukrainian artillery to attack enemy positions in the fastest and most efficient way. .

According to the British newspaper ‘The Times’, GIS Arta allowed the Ukrainian army to destroy an entire Russian battalion a couple of weeks ago. The automated system has been used by the Ukrainian Forces since 2014. Its operation is reminiscent of services such as Uber or Cabify.

When Ukrainian military or reconnaissance drones detect the position of an enemy, they transmit their situation to the system. Once this is done, the technology is able to quickly select the artillery units, mortars, missiles or combat drones that are within range and determine the type of artillery that should be used to destroy it. GIS Arta is capable of performing the entire operation in less than a minute.

In order to make the decision, GIS Arta takes advantage of the information collected by reconnaissance drones, rangefinders, ‘smartphones’, GPS and radars, according to the ‘Root Nation’ site. The system is also capable of determining if it is necessary to resort to different artillery batteries and when they should be fired.

With Musk’s Internet

To make the tool functional during the conflict, the Ukrainian Army is turning to satellite internet provided to the country by Starlink, one of the (many) companies owned by Elon Musk. It should be remembered that, since the beginning of the invasion, the tycoon has shown his support for the cause of the country governed by Zelensky. So much so that he even challenged Putin to a fight in which, as he pointed out on Twitter, the future of the state would be decided.

Precisely, Dmitry Rogozin, head of the Russian space agency, Roscosmos, has charged Musk several times in recent months. He has also drawn attention to the fact that Starlink technology is being used by Ukraine and the extremist Azov Battalion for destructive purposes. “Elon Musk is involved in supplying military communications to fascist forces in Ukraine. And for this you will have to respond in an adult way, Elon », he stated in a recent on his Telegram channel.

For his part, the owner of Starlink SpaceX (and we’ll see if Twitter) responded in a thread on the bird’s ‘app’ that “the word Nazi does not mean what he (Rogozin) thinks.” He also noted that, “there are no angels in war”, and that if he dies “under strange circumstances it was a pleasure to meet you”.
