The United States congratulates Spain for organizing the NATO summit

The Secretary of State of the United States, Antony Blinken, congratulated his Spanish counterpart, José Manuel Albares, on Friday for organizing the NATO summit on June 28, 29 and 30 in Madrid, during a meeting on the margins of the G20 Foreign Affairs meeting in Bali (Indonesia).

Blinken and Albares talked in the corridors of the Mulia hotel (nusa duaeast of Bali), where the meeting of the group of heads of diplomacy of the main industrialized and emerging countries took place between Thursday and Friday, at which time the American congratulated Spain on the NATO summit.

The capital of Spain brought together the past June 28, 29 and 30 to forty Heads of State and Government in the framework of the NATO summit, which approved the new strategic concept of the Alliance.

NATO leaders pledged to deploy more “robust” and “combat-ready” forces on the eastern flank of the Alliance, to expand the current battalions deployed in eight Eastern European countries.

During the meeting, NATO countries reinforced their support for Ukraine, which is suffering from russian invasion since last February 24, and an agreement was reached on the future entry into the Alliance of Sweden and Finland, after Turkey lifted its veto on this issue.
