Antonio Huertas, Inma Chacón and Guadalupe Sabio have received the highest awards in the province of Badajoz delivered this Tuesday at a ceremony held in Campanario

The municipal auditorium-booth of Campanario has hosted today, April 26, the institutional act of the Day of the Province with the delivery of the 2022 Gold Medals and the awards of the Day of the Province.

The winners have agreed to express their pride in receiving this distinction from their land. Some awards, in addition, that as the provincial president, Miguel Ángel Gallardo, has recalled, reflect that we are “in a territory full of opportunities.”

The central part of the institutional act was the delivery of the three Gold Medals of the Province of Badajoz.

Villanovan Antonio Huertas, president of Mapfre Spain and Fundación Mapfre, was the first to receive the highest award in the province from the hands of the first mayor of Campania, Elías López. Huertas also chairs the Social Council of the University of Extremadura, and in his speech he mentioned three important elements: “The first is to be here, surrounded by my own.” Secondly, he declared that he felt “proud to share the act with these women, with culture and science, something that we cannot ignore.” As a third element, he thanked Mapfre “for allowing the development of a business and very supportive activity.” Finally, he has had some endearing words for his parents, siblings and friends.

Guadalupe has demanded that she not forget the “knowledge generation”. “Science needs freedom for creativity and this is also achieved with a greater investment in research for young people”, she has expressed. In addition, Sabio Diver has highlighted the challenge of bringing those who left and the new scientists to Extremadura “because they will make a better region.” She also believes that the university should be promoted to help achieve a better society.

Chacón thanked “the enormous affection shown and for which I have for our land, which is returned to me in the form of recognition.” Inma wanted to share her award with all her countrymen from Extremadura and Segedanos, “especially with my family and children, brothers and nephews, the ‘Chacones'”. For Inma, her family is her root and her drive and “here I come back with any excuse and compelling reason, like this event.” Finally, she has stated that the medal “is for those who are missing me”.

In the first section of the act, the seven prizes of the Day of the Province were delivered, by representatives of the social fabric of Campanario. Inés González collected the Culture and Sports award. The Salvatierra de los Barros City Council received the Green and Circular Economy award for the ‘More ceramics, less plastic’ campaign.

The manager of Serna Spirulina, Natalia Cristina Concepción, collected the Province of Badajoz Award for Entrepreneurship; while the judge Beatriz Miranda received the Equality award. For his part, the Social and Labor Integration of People with Disabilities recognition was collected by the manager of the company Pi Medical, Juan Francisco Sánchez; the award for Tourism Innovation went to Pago de las Encomiendas, with its director, Diego Reyes, as representative; while the Sustainable Development Goals award was collected by the director of the IES Albarregas de Mérida, Federico Benítez, and María Jesús Villegas, the coordinator of the award-winning project ‘There is not Planet B’.

The turn of the institutional speeches was opened by the mayor of Campanario, Elías López, who as host wanted to thank the Provincial Council for its decision to celebrate this day in its town. “It is the day of all the municipalities that make up the province and it is to be appreciated that this municipal booth in Campanario serves today as a meeting point for all the municipalities.” López pointed out that Campanario represents the values ​​that prevail in the Day of the Province because “it represents culture, integration, sports, solidarity, and it is an enterprising people with great cultural concern.” For all these reasons, he wanted to vindicate the essential role of the Badajoz Provincial Council, which “is part of the family book of each of the province’s municipalities.”

The president of the Diputación de Badajoz, Miguel Ángel Gallardo, recalled that the Day of the Province «symbolically travels through our extensive territory to thank the women and men who live their daily efforts there, as our remembered Santiago Castelo said».

As he has said, “we know the reality of our territory and we need to get involved in everything that brings improvements to our towns, always attentive to the demands of our mayors”.

Miguel Ángel Gallardo has been “convinced that the rural world is full of opportunities.” And, he added that «proof of this are those who have received these awards today. My thanks to all the winners for paving the way for other opportunities and knowledge.”

The president of the Diputación was accompanied by the main authorities of the region, such as the president of the Junta de Extremadura, Guillermo Fernández Vara; the Government delegate in Extremadura, Yolanda García Seco; the president of the Assembly of Extremadura, Blanca Martín; the president of the Diputación de Cáceres, Carlos Carlos; the former regional president, Juan Carlos Rodríguez Ibarra, the mayor of Campanario, Elías López, as well as mayors of the province, winners and various institutional representatives.

The act was presented by the actress Raquel Bazo, and had artistic animation by Zircus Animation, with juggling, Contac balls, diabolos, stilts, before the act, and an acrobatic number, during it. An event that opened the Pueri Angelorum Choir from Campanario which, under the direction of Andrés Ángel Blanco, interpreted the anthem of Extremadura.
