These closures are part of a new phase that will be extended in the coming months with the disappearance of more than 60 offices
Since the union of Unicaja Banco and Liberbank was confirmed on July 30, its legal merger by absorption, it was already known that in Extremadura it was going to have a great impact. The region was one of the territories in which the greatest overlapping of branches occurred, since, especially in the north of Cáceres, both Liberbank (where Caja Extremadura was integrated) and Unicaja had a strong presence.
In addition to the ERE proposed by the banking entity with the dismissal of more than 1,500 workers throughout Spain, 153 of them in Extremadura and with very harsh conditions, it was already known that many offices were going to close and now it is known what they are.
This Friday the offices of Navezuelas, Talaván, Madrigal de la Vera, La Pesga, Caminomorisco, Cañamero, Torrecillas de la Tiesa, Garganta la Olla, Carcaboso, Perales del Puerto, Eljas, Torrecilla de los Ángeles, Torre de Don Miguel will stop working , Cadalso, La Cumbre, Navas del Madroño, Alía, Aldeanueva del Camino, Guijo de Granadilla, Valverde de la Vera, Casas del Monte and Mohedas de Granadilla, in the province of Cáceres and Calamonte, Oliva de la Frontera, Casas de Don Pedro and Campo Lugar, in the province of Badajoz.
These windows will cease to have activity as of March 18 and the bank has already communicated to each client to inform them of their new reference office, a telephone number and an email as a contact and to answer any questions.
These closures are part of a new phase that will be extended in the coming months with the disappearance of more than 60 offices.
After its merger, Unicaja is the fifth bank in the Spanish financial system and the benchmark listed financial institution in six autonomous communities (Andalusia, Asturias, Cantabria, Castilla-La Mancha, Castilla y León and Extremadura), in addition to being present in other markets such as Madrid, Ceuta and Melilla. It has more than 1,360 branches, more than 2,500 ATMs and 410 financial agents, which provide services through 482 agencies, especially located in small towns and rural areas, according to data from December 2021. The territorial distribution of this network of branches, ATMs and financial agents joins the traditional telephone service and digital channels (app and web), which have experienced progress since the pandemic. The entity is also working on the implementation of remote managers.
