Thursday Night Football Fan Duel Picks: NFL DFS Lineup Tips for Week 1 Cowboys-Buccaneers Single Game Tournaments

At long last (daily fantasy) football is upon us, and we get a treat to kick off what always promises to be a compelling season of action with soaring ups and downs. Reigning Super Bowl champions Buccaneers host Team USA on Thursday Night Football, as the Cowboys aim for a Week 1 upset. The Las Vegas Books opened the total at 53 with the Bucs favored. by six, so NFL DFS players could be on fire to usher in the 2021 NFL season and the start of a hopefully lucrative year of playing single-game FanDuel contests.

FanDuel’s single-game DFS contests don’t have particularly wacky rules, but here’s a quick recap: Total points for the “MVP” is multiplied by 1.5, but he has no additional money as the “Captain” in DraftKings Showdown. contests. The default FanDuel score is Semi point PPR and Four-point pass TD, and here they are no bonuses for 300 yard / 100 yard games like in DraftKings.

FanDuel Single Game DFS Picks: Cowboys vs Buccaneers

$ 60,000 budget, needs at least one player from each team

MVP (1.5x points): QB Tom Brady, Buccaneers ($ 16,000)

Brady eclipsed 30 FanDuel points four times last season and delivered another 29.9-point performance for good measure. Brady’s resume speaks for itself, but there are reasons to be even more optimistic about him in 2021. Not only is he healthier after tackling a knee injury he played last season, but he is entering his second year in the scheme. from head coach Bruce Arians and is doing so with a full complement of weapons. He’s going to produce big points, so we’re fine with him as a potential limestone MVP pick.

FLEX: QB Dak Prescott, Cowboys ($ 15,500)

Conventional wisdom suggests that a larger percentage of the field will name Brady as their MVP. If you feel like zigzagging, switch the two signal callers. Prescott certainly has question marks before this initial showdown. How is the arm? How much will it run? Will offensive line problems hurt him? The lack of rushed production is a possibility and a concern of the district, but he was able to score 29.5 FD points and 38.3 FD points, respectively, in Weeks 4 and 5 last year without doing much with his legs. He’s got a lean Ezekiel Elliott, an enviable trio of receivers, and two solid TEs to lean on, so we’ll be betting on some great production as Dallas tries to keep up with Tampa.

FLEX: WR Chris Godwin, Buccaneers ($ 8,600)

Considering his relatively high salary in a matchup that features numerous attractive wide receivers, it can be easy to walk away from Godwin. Things didn’t always work out for Godwin in 2020, thanks in part to a camp injury, but he was still pretty efficient on target. Don’t be fooled by last season’s disappointing campaign. Godwin is very capable of contributing more than 20 FD points on any given night. In this particular build, fantasy owners could also choose to trade in Amari Cooper ($ 12,000) or CeeDee Lamb ($ 10,000).

WEEK 1 PPR RANKINGS:
Field marshal | Running backwards | Wide receiver | Tight end | D / ST | Kicker

FLEX: K Ryan Succop, Buccaneers ($ 8,500)

It’s never fun to add a kicker to your lineup, but in a game with such a high projected total, Succop should have enough chances to make a fantasy impact. Plus, it should give us some differentiation and “safe” points in a game where we’d be guessing with Dallas WR or Bucs RB.

WEEK 1 STANDARD RATINGS:
Field marshal | Running backwards | Wide receiver | Tight end | D / ST | Kicker

FLEX: TE Rob Gronkowski, Buccaneers ($ 7,500)

Gronk has a knack for going big in featured games. We’re hoping it will be loosened by a score, or two, if the fantasy gods smile at us like they did at the Super Bowl last year, and we can unleash a signature Gronk spike on our opponents.
