MLB announced Thursday that Trevor Bauer’s license will be extended seven days, starting Friday. This was done in accordance with the players’ association, as police and the league continue to investigate allegations of sexual assault against the Dodgers pitcher.
One woman said Bauer assaulted her twice earlier this year. Recently, she filed an ex parte restraining order against him for domestic violence. He was executed on June 28.
An ex parte is a temporary restraining order that does not give the defendant an opportunity to respond immediately in court. Instead, the accused is notified of the allegations and is given a formal hearing and an opportunity to respond at a later date to rebut any allegations. Bauer representatives confirmed Illustrated Sports who will participate in a hearing scheduled for July 23.
The woman alleged that Bauer committed several non-consensual acts after what began as consensual sex. She alleges the pitcher strangled her unconscious and penetrated her anally without consent in April.
A similar incident happened again in May, the woman said, when Bauer choked her unconscious. When she regained consciousness, the pitcher repeatedly hit her in the head, leading the woman to the emergency room due to severe trauma.
“This was the first blow I felt, but it is quite possible that Trevor had already been hitting and scratching the right side of my face while I was unconscious,” the report said. for The athletic. “Trevor then hit me hard with a clenched fist on the left side of my jaw, the left side of my head, and both cheekbones. I remember this vividly and it was extremely surprising and painful. He was absolutely frozen and terrified. I couldn’t speak or move. After hitting me several times, he turned me upside down and started choking me with his hair. I lost consciousness again. “
The woman provided photographs of herself after the assault on the court, according to The athletic, which show his face “visibly bruised and swollen, even under both eyes. He also has a swollen jaw, a bloody lip, and scratches on one side of his face.”
He underwent two medical exams, one at Alvarado Hospital Medical Center in San Diego on May 16 and another at Palomar Health in Escondido. During her second medical exam, she underwent a Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) exam, which included medical professionals photographing her entire body.
After the initial visit to the Alvarado Hospital Medical Center, the woman spoke to San Diego Police Department detectives and reportedly downplayed what happened, saying in her statement: “I was scared of what Trevor would do. if he found out. I’m still afraid that Trevor will find me and hurt me for going to the hospital. “
Later, he had a recorded telephone conversation with Bauer at the request of the Pasadena Police Department, in which he asked, “What did you do to me when I was unconscious?”
Bauer reportedly said he punched him on the buttocks, but did not address any subsequent comment on the matter.
MLB included in its announcement of Bauer’s extended license for an additional seven days that the investigation is still “ongoing.”
