The Mossos d’Esquadra have denounced 215 of those attending the rave in an abandoned warehouse in Llinars del Vallès (Barcelona), which began on New Year’s Eve and which has been evicted this Saturday, for failing to comply with the health measures against Covid -19.

The attendees are of Spanish nationality (100), French (35), Italian (10), Andorran (3), Austrian, Dutch and Luxembourgish, the Minister of the Interior has informed, Miquel Sàmper, at a press conference this Saturday with the oldest of the Mosos, Josep Lluís Trapero. In addition, the Mossos have arrested a 29-year-old Dutch girl and a 22-year-old young man from Tarragona – the alleged organizers – for alleged serious disobedience, and are investigating five more people for the same crime.

In the framework of the traffic operation deployed in the area, 61 breathalyzer tests have been carried out that have been negative, while a drug test has been positive. The Servei Català de Trànsit (SCT) has raised 30 minutes for expired documentation and expired technical inspection of the vehicle.

Trapero justifies the operation of the Mossos

Trapero has reported that in The operation started on the night of December 31, when there were about 300 people in the ship, and that some 200 agents of the Mossos d’Esquadra participated in it together with the local police of Llinars.

Members of the Sistema d’Emergències Mèdiques (SEM) were also present, thanking them for ensuring the security of the agents, by not wearing masks to the party. Asked if Mossos is self-critical about the performance, Trapero has said that it could have been improved in the “detection” of the party, and added that the police continue working to identify the owner of the abandoned ship.

He has also explained that the local police tried to mediate the night of the 31st, and that the Mossos tried two more times before proceeding with the eviction – one on Friday afternoon, and another on Saturday morning.

“No one has had an attitude of facilitating the end of this exercise of irresponsibility,” he lamented, so that this Saturday the public order officers have entered and removed the attendees, within the framework of an operation that has ended without more incidents, Trapero highlighted.

At 5:00 p.m. today from the 31st

The party has been completely evacuated around 5:00 p.m. this Saturday and the Mossos have opened preliminary proceedings on the event, which they have transferred to the Granollers court (Barcelona).

On the other hand, the Ministry of the Interior has raised a query to the Prosecutor’s Office in case the facts can be considered constituting a crime against public health, in addition to violating the anti-Covid administrative regulations.

Attendees face penalties of up to 3,000 euros, while for the organizers the fine can reach 600,000 euros; on whether the fact that the fines are foreigners will make collection difficult, Sàmper has stated: “It will be more difficult, but any country has the sanctioning capacity.”
