USA vs. Czech Republic live score, updates, highlights of men’s 2021 olympic basketball game

Members of the US men’s basketball team admitted that they may have been too altruistic when they started playing together. That wasn’t a problem for a certain All-Star guard when the Americans defeated Iran this week.

Damian Lillard scored 21 points in Team USA’s 120-66 win on group play, hitting seven of his 13 13-point field goal attempts. Turns out, a little pep talk from Draymond Green sparked Lillard’s big performance.

“Draymond was like, ‘Damian Lillard doesn’t hesitate to throw a ball, especially late in the game.’ Lillard said. “You know I had a loss at the end of the first game [against France], where I tried to swing to the corner and the guy looked stunted to me and went to the overtaking lane and saved him. And they ended up hitting all three to take the lead and ended up winning the game. And he was like, ‘You know that’s not it, that’s not what you do. You take down those kinds of shots, you know, and that’s what we needed you to do at the time. So being passive and missing opportunities like that doesn’t serve this team well. ”

“And, you know, we talked about it, and, you know, it was simple, I just said, ‘I should have fired it, and you know it won’t happen again, and I’m going to correct it in the future.'” “

Team USA will need Lillard to bring that same mentality against the Czech Republic on Saturday as the Americans look to secure a place in the quarterfinals.
