A gunman set fire to a shopping mall in Boise, Idaho, and killed two people this Monday, while six were injured, local authorities reported.
Through a press conference, Ryan Lee, police chief of Boise, Idaho, reported that among the injured was a member of the police, in an incident that occurred around 1:50 pm (local time).
About the suspect of the crime, Lee reported that they found a person who matched the suspect’s description, prompting an exchange of gunfire in which the officer was wounded.
“I cannot stress enough how traumatic this event is for the community at large, as well as for those who witnessed or are the family of those involved or themselves.”, said Lee during the conference.
The suspect is currently in custody and Lee assured that only one person was involved in the shooting. The reasons are not yet authorized to be revealed.
They recommended that citizens not travel through the area despite the fact that there is no information that points to new threats in the shopping center and the surroundings, it reported CNN.
In the images, people can be seen running towards the exits of the shopping center, while the shots were heard from a distance.
The streets heading north and south in Milwaukee Street between the roads Emerald y Franklin were closed due to the investigation, reported the Ada County Highway District.
Police said they are still in the process of notifying the families of those involved in the shooting.
For his part, the governor of Idaho, Brad Little, reported that the shooting is unthinkable and that he was praying for the people who were injured.
