Vivo has just made its first folding mobile official. The Asian company debuts in the segment with a high-end foldable book type, something similar to what we already saw in the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3. Qualcomm’s latest batch and a known format
The Vivo X Fold is the Chinese manufacturer’s first commitment to the folding segment. We are facing a phone that, folded, has measurements of 162 x 74.5 x 14.6 mm. When unfolded it goes to 162 x 144.9 x 6.3 mm, doubling its width. We are thus facing a large terminal, more than 16 centimeters high, and weighing 311 grams (quite achieved for the type of terminal).
Vivo’s X Fold is a folding book type with a slightly curved panel on the outside
The fold is similar to what is seen in Samsung’s Fold proposals. A quite vertical terminal when we use it folded, and that goes into a tablet format when we unfold it. The interior panel is 8.03 inches, with a resolution of 1916 x 2160 pixels and AMOLED technology. The refresh rate is 120Hz.
The outer panel, the one we see when the device is folded, is 6.53 inches, with Full HD + resolution, 21: 9 aspect ratio, AMOLED technology and also 120Hz for the refresh rate. Both panels are E5 typethe latest generation available in mobile OLED panels.
The heart of this phone is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 (customized exclusively for Vivo, with security improvements), accompanied by 12 GB of RAM and two internal memory configurations: 256 or 512 GB, UFS 3.1 type. The battery is 4,600mAh, with a fast charge of 66W and the promise of a full charge in 37 minutes. Wireless charging is 50W and reversible wireless charging is 10W.
A commitment to photography
The folding ones, in general, were leaving the photographic section aside. It is not the case of this Vivo. The commitment in this model is for a quad camera, with two telephoto lenses and an ultra wide angle. This is the camera configuration:
- 50 megapixel main sensor.
- 8 megapixel periscopic sensor, OIS, 5x zoom.
- 12 megapixel telephoto sensor, two magnifications.
- 48 megapixel ultra wide angle sensor.
The lenses are signed by Zeiss and video recording is up to 8K. A clear commitment to be the foldable with the best photography.
Versions and price of the Vivo X Fold
The Vivo X Fold has been put up for sale in China at a price of around 1,300 euros. In case of arriving in Europe, the price would increase after taxes and fees. These are the prices and versions in your native country.
