Weaving is a great hobby for students

Sweater, Yarn, Fabric, Knitting, Clothes

Needlework can be done in different ways, especially in the 21st century. It is not only available to every student today, but also fashionable! And if we take into account that with proper practice and developed skill, self-made products can also be sold, interest in needlework techniques increases even among those who have not done anything like this before. Students who don’t have enough time for their hobbies may be interested to buy term papers online.

If knitting, embroidery, and sewing have not sunk into the soul, you can try yourself in different types of weaving. Let’s see what is made of what and in what way you can weave.

This is a technique of knot weaving. It appeared thanks to the sailors of the sailing fleet. The ability to knit sea knots has grown into the art of creating decorative items from threads and cords.

What can be woven in the macrame technique

There are many options:

Wall panels. Moreover, they can carry not only a decorative but also quite a practical function, if you supplement the product with pockets in which it is convenient to put small objects.

Boxes. They can store needlework devices, threads. The needlework box costs quite a decent amount of money. So wouldn’t it be better to master macrame and weave one yourself?

Decorating. Earrings, brooches, pendants, bracelets. And, of course, hair hoops.

Accessories. Belts, bags (including laptops), wallets, housekeepers, woven in the macrame technique, look very solid and original.

Furniture. How? Yes, it is furniture. Chairs made of durable cords will perfectly fit into the country interior.

The curtains. No one from your neighbors will have the same for sure.

Decorative interior items. In the macrame technique, you can braid bottles, vases, boxes, make cup holders and suspensions for planters. There are so many options, the sky is the limit here.

What is necessary for weaving macramé

This kind of needlework is also beautiful because it does not require special expenses. The most important factor is having the desire to learn a new skill. Even the poorest student can afford this activity. And you will need this:

Threads, cords, ropes. In general, anything that can be tied in a knot is suitable for this technique. The main thing is that the thickness and quality of the material meet the purpose of the products. For example, it is better to weave jewelry from thin floss, and items requiring strength from thicker cords. The cost of cords with a thickness of 1 mm is about 2 dollars per meter. Floss threads are even cheaper. If you are going to weave earrings or bracelets, then you can order accessories for them on aliexpress for just a couple of dollars. As a result, the cost of the product will be very low, and the final result is incredible.

  • A piece of foam or a pillow for attaching the thread.
  • Pins. They should be strong and with large heads.
  • Awl or knitting needle for untying failed knots.
  • Scissors.
  • Centimeter.
  • Knitting hook.
  • Weights. They will be needed to align the product.
  • PVA glue.

Where to start?

With the development of nodes! To understand what it is and whether you like to do it.

If everything turns out fine, you can try to weave small products.

This is a technique of weaving lace. You can decorate anything with it, from clothes to furniture in your home.

What can be woven in the frivolite technique

  • Collars, cuffs, and other trim for clothing.
  • Decorating. Earrings, bracelets, brooches, tiaras.
  • Napkins and tablecloths.
  • Lace for curtains, pillows.
  • Bookmarks for books.

What will be needed for weaving frivolite

  • The shuttle. Special for this kind of needlework. It costs about 2 dollars.
  • Thin hook (1 mm). It will cost 5 dollars. Or a special long needle for frivolity. The set will cost about 5 dollars.
  • Scissors.
  • Threads. The usual ones are well suited for crocheting. For example, Iris.
  • Beads. It can also be used.

How to start mastering the frivolite technique

Again, with nodes. They are carried out with the help of the notorious shuttle for frivolity.

As soon as it becomes more or less clear whether you are interested in this technique, you can start weaving something simple and fast. For example, a bracelet.

Products made of beads look beautiful, bright, and expensive. Sometimes it is quite difficult to distinguish plastic trinkets made in this technique from real jewelry.

What can be woven from beads

Probably, you tried to weave small bracelets at school age. However, this kind of needlework is not limited to them.

  • Decorating.
  • Accessories or individual parts for them.
  • Decorative interior items.
  • Christmas tree toys.
  • Anything else.

What you will need for beading

First of all, a lot of patience. Working with such a small material as beads requires concentration and scrupulousness. Secondly, material investments. Because of all the listed weaving techniques, this one will probably cost a little more.

But don’t worry, a couple of dozens of dollars will be enough for several packages of even the highest quality beads of different colors. So you will definitely pull small items.

So, you need to purchase:

  • Beads. For the first time, buy the most inexpensive. The cost depends on the material of manufacture (glass, plastic, metal), the country of origin (Japanese, Czech, Chinese is more expensive or ours, domestic is cheaper), as well as the shape (it happens, for example, double-edged beads). Prices start from 1 dollar per package. This will be enough for the first time to master the technique.
  • Beading machine. You can buy it, or you can make it yourself from cardboard.
  • Beaded needles.
  • Scissors.
  • Accessories for fasteners (if you weave bracelets or beads).

For the manufacture of some products, additional materials may be needed. For example, wire or fishing line. But it is better to start with the elementary, without burdening the already difficult process of mastering with additional difficulties.

The most important thing in learning new skills is enjoying every step of the way and not feeling the pressure to succeed immediately.
