Weekend plans: from Almossassa to Deep Purple with a stop at the Llerena fair


Autumn opens with lively leisure proposals in Extremadura. A Badajoz returns to the Amossassa party as we enjoyed it before the pandemic and on Sunday the Bicycle Day will take place. This weekend Deep Purple performs in Mérida, Stone’s main course; Llerena is at parties; Zafra is already living his favorite and Cáceres resumes programming at the Gran Teatro.

Badajoz

Arabic atmosphere and bicycles

The Almossassa festival returns this Friday with the opening of the Arab market in the Plaza Alta at 11:00. This edition recovers the festive part of the celebration of the founding of the city, and which adds two novelties: the Carnival song contest dedicated to Ibn Marwan and the incorporation of the Plaza de la Soledad to the celebration stages. The epicenter of the party will be the Plaza Alta which, from Friday to Sunday, will be transformed into an Arab souk. There will be a hundred stalls between artisans, tea shops and food stalls. On Friday, at 9:00 p.m., in the Plaza de San Andrés you can enjoy the free concert by Suso. The recital ‘Baladas & boleros’ is part of the Ciudad Encendida program.

The López de Ayala Theater hosts this Saturday a show by the Jesús Ortega flamenco center. It will start at 8:30 p.m. and the price is 12 euros.

On Sunday Badajoz will recover the Bicycle Day. In its 35th edition, those who wish to participate can register for free until Saturday at 2:00 p.m. Check the route here.

Caceres

The public returns to the Grand Theater

The Gran Teatro opens the season with the Extremaduran production ‘Camerino’, written and performed by Raquel Palma and Javier Herrera, on Friday at 8:30 p.m. On Sunday at 12.00 there will be a tribute from the Asociación Musical Cacereña to the members and colleagues who are no longer there. Nicolás Bernáldez, Paula Rubio, David de Rueda and Chloé Bird will perform.

Also on Friday there will be a screening at the Filmoteca at 8:30 p.m. On this occasion, ‘Ninjababy’ (Norway, 2021), within the Cinema and Youth cycle. On the other hand, the Maka concert at the equestrian venue, which starts at ten o’clock at night.

On the sports agenda, this Friday highlights the VIII International Tourism Basketball Trophy Province of Cáceres. The meeting will start at the Multiusos at 8:00 p.m. and Cáceres Patrimonio and the Eléctrico FC de Ponte de Sor will test their strength. Deep Purple at the Stone and Fishing

The legendary British band Deep Purple offers a concert at the Teatro Romano.

In Mérida, Deep Purple arrives this Friday at the Roman Theater. The legendary British hard rock band is one of the highlights of the Stone & Music Festival.

Also on Friday, musicians Gene García and Pedro Calero will offer a jazz concert at 8:30 p.m. at the Santo Domingo Cultural Center. Admission is free until full capacity.

On Friday at Sala Trajano you can enjoy ‘Medea a la deriva’, a play by Maltravieso Teatro based on the graphic novel by Fermín Solís. It starts at 8:30 p.m. and tickets cost 5 euros.

In terms of sports, the Guadiana section of the El Prado road hosts this weekend the Master Feeding World Championship. A dozen teams from nine different countries will compete. There will be delegations from France, Austria, Hungary, England, Italy, Portugal, South Africa, Spain and Belgium. More than 130 participants will spend the weekend on the river bank.

On Saturday Cantautaria organizes a charity gala at the Alcazaba Cultural Center starting at eight o’clock to help the boy Odín. He is three years old and was born with a brain malformation. Funds will be raised with tickets, which cost five euros.
