What channel is Kraken vs. Golden Knights today? Time, TV schedule for NHL return to ESPN

Welcome to the NHL, Seattle!

The NHL’s newest team, the Kraken, will hit the ice in Las Vegas to take on the Golden Knights on opening night. Before things get going at T-Mobile Arena, the Lightning will face the Penguins in Florida. The games mark ESPN’s return as the league’s announcer.

What to expect from the Kraken in 2021-22 is anyone’s guess. Will they be like the expansion teams of yesteryear, who fought mightily against the more established clubs? Or will they be more like their first opponent, the Golden Knights, who went to the Stanley Cup final in their inaugural year? Time will tell, but the team has already made some big moves, including the signing of free agents Jaden Schwartz and Philipp Grubauer and the appointment of Mark Giordano as the franchise’s first captain.

In the opening day opening ceremony, the defending champions will face a Penguins team expected to miss Evgeni Malkin and Sidney Crosby. The Penguins captain underwent wrist surgery in September and, although he skated over the weekend, he is not yet scheduled to return.
