Week 5 of the NFL season was very different for Los Angeles and New York.
The Rams pulled off a pretty resounding victory over Seatlle, racking up nearly 500 total yards of offense en route to beating the Seahawks 26-17. The victory pushed the Rams to 4-1 on the season and to second place in the NFC West.
The Giants, meanwhile, were defeated by the Cowboys 44-20 and were bitten powerfully by the injury virus. Even before the game started, the Giants didn’t have wide receivers Darius Slayton and Sterling Shepard. Then, as the action progressed, the injury issues continued. They lost running back Saquon Barkley and catcher Kadarius Toney to an ankle injury, quarterback Daniel Jones to a head injury and catcher Kenny Golladay to a knee injury at various points in the game.
Jones was replaced by former Buccaneers, Jaguars and Bears starter Mike Glennon, while Barkley was replaced by former Broncos running back Devontae Booker. From now on, Barkley is scheduled to miss several weeks, while Jones will return to the field.
The Rams currently boast a top-10 offense and also one of the most balanced in the league. They have six different receivers with double-digit targets, led by Cooper Kupp, who is third in receiving yards and fifth in touchdowns. They’re also averaging 98 rushing yards per game, one of the best clips in the league.
Meanwhile, the Giants have been near the bottom in most offensive and defensive categories and, at 1-4, rank at the bottom of the NFC East standings.
