The 18 members of the Hockey Hall of Fame selection committee chose five players and a constructor for the election. The Association of Professional Hockey Writers awards the Elmer Ferguson Memorial Award for excellence in hockey journalism and the NHL Broadcasters Association is responsible for the Foster Hewitt Memorial Award for outstanding contributions as a hockey broadcaster.
