Comes the Intense cold to Spain. This Monday a winter DANA began to penetrate our country through the north of the peninsula, coming from high latitudes. At low levels, a polar jet will enter, a very cold air mass that will cause a drastic drop in temperatures. Precipitation in the form of snow at relatively low elevations in different areas of the Peninsula, as well as copious and persistent rains in the northern quadrant of the peninsula.

Monday, November 22

This Monday the Snow cover will descend to about 800-1,100 meters in the northern half, so the snowfall will affect the Cantabrian mountain range more pronounced. A thickness of about 10 centimeters could be reached at the end of the day at high altitudes.

Snowfall is also expected in the Central and Iberian systems, where the accumulated snow could reach 5 centimeters thick.

Snow is not ruled out either in lower areas of the south of Castilla y León, the northeast of Castilla-La Mancha and in some parts of the Community of Madrid.

The descent of the temperatures it will take place mainly in the northern half of the peninsula.

Throughout today temperatures close to 0ºC are expected in Avila and Leon. Other areas of Castilla y León, Castilla-La Mancha and Aragon will also be affected by the cold.

Tuesday is expected to be the peak day of the winter episode. Thus, rainfall in large areas, more abundant and probable in the extreme north, center, east and northeast of the peninsula, as well as in the Balearic Islands. They may be locally strong or persistent and with storms in the north of the Valencian Community, Catalonia and the Balearic Islands and middle and lower Ebro, without ruling out the Iberian system and the rest of the Ebro river basin.

It is expected that in Teruel the minimum -3ºC is reached and that in Ávila, Cuenca, Segovia and Soria the minimums oscillate around 0ºC and the maximums do not exceed 7ºC.

Wednesday, November 24

Wednesday the storm give a small truce and temperatures will start to rise in wide areas. However, they will continue to decline in part of Aragon, La Rioja, Castilla-La Mancha and Castilla y León. On Teruel a minimum of -6ºC and a maximum temperature of 4 are expected.

Although with greater uncertainty, they are expected snowfall less likely in the same areas. The cloudy skies and the rains will not go away, and will affect much of the north, center and east of the peninsula and the Balearic Islands. Will be locally persistent and of certain intensity in the Cantabrian mountain range, mainly in the central and eastern sectors. In the north of the Mediterranean area, showers which may be locally strong and occasionally with storms, especially in the northeastern and coastal areas of Catalonia, the Gulf of Valencia and Menorca.
