Dating apps including Tinder, Bumble and Match told USA TODAY that people with certain zodiac signs tend to get more dates, report more connections and have more sex. Who’s coming out on top?
The signs with the most matches across the world according to Bumble were:
- Leo
- Cancer
- Taurus
Astrologer Kathleen Medina told USA TODAY it makes total sense to her that Leo is the leader when it comes to matches.
“Leo’s often are the most easygoing, and the most social naturally, and kind, warm, and giving, and charismatic, so it makes total sense to me that they get the most matches,” said Medina.
Some dating app users use astrology when setting up dates.
“I usually don’t pick all my matches through astrology, but I do use it as a helpful tool to determine whether to send a message or meet up with them,” astrology fan Hannelore Saab told USA TODAY.
Medina said she’s seen a rising interest in astrology and people using it to find compatible partners.
“When you start going into the depth of compatibility, you’re going to get a real insight into that person’s nature,” Medina said.

Tinder, Bumble, and Match report popular matches by sign
Dating apps have 44.2 million users in the US, according to Statistical, with Tinder leading the way. On many of these apps, daters can add their astrological sign to their profiles.
According to data provided to USA TODAY by Bumble, the second most popular dating app in the US, as of March 2022, 78% of active Bumble users added a zodiac badge to their profile.
In data provided by Tinder, people with certain astrological signs are more likely to form matches with those of other signs.
- Aries most often matches with Libra, Virgo and Leo.
- Taurus matches most with Taurus, Libra and Aries.
- Gemini matches most with Sagittarius, Aquarius and Cancer.
- Cancer matches most with Aquarius, Capricorn and Sagittarius.
- Leo matches most with Aries, Gemini and Libra.
- Virgo matches most with Scorpio, Aries and Libra.
- Libra matches most with Aries, Virgo and Taurus.
- Scorpio matches most with Virgo, Aries and Pisces.
- Sagittarius matches most with Capricorn, Aquarius and Gemini.
- Capricorn matches most with Sagittarius, Aquarius and Gemini.

Which sign reports having the most sex?
According to survey data provided to USA TODAY by the dating site Match, people born under the sign Aquarius self-report having the most sex.
Sex by sign:
- Aquariuses have the most sex, with 52% reporting they had sex multiple times per month in the year prior.
- Those born under the Aries sign were next, with 50% saying they had sex multiple times per month.
- Virgos followed with 32% saying they had sex multiple times per month.
- Capricorns were next with 31% saying they had sex multiple times per month.
“Aquarians could be probably open to the most sex with different people. Because they’re trying to like, figure out what and who they want to be with,” Medina said.
People with Sagittarius and Taurus signs report going on the most in-person dates. In 2021, 13% of people with each sign said they went on five or more in-person dates.
Cancers ranked highest in having a one-night stand during the pandemic, with 11% engaging in one, compared with Libra at 4%.
Capricorns were the most likely to say they had a “friend with benefits,” though only 13% of them admitted to having that type of relationship.
Which sign sends the most nudes?
Libras topped the list of those sending nude pictures, with 85% telling Match they sent the same amount or more nudes during COVID-19.
“Libra is all about the aesthetics,” said Medina. “They would probably like a good angled shot. They’re sending stuff that they think is attractive because Libras really care about attractiveness because they’re ruled by Venus.”
When it comes to Aquarius, 43% said the same, while 57% said they felt fewer nudes during the pandemic; 46% of Pisces said they felt fewer nudes.
Aries seems to be the most appearance-conscious, with 91% ranking physical attractiveness as important. Meanwhile, 74% of Geminis said physical attractiveness is a less important factor when choosing a match.

Aquariuses feel the most ready for a serious relationship, with 42% saying they are seeking one. Only 30% of Sagittariuses and 33% of Leos report looking for love, according to Match.
“Aquarians are so curious and they want to see and they want to understand and they want to know,” said Medina. “They’re going to be probably the most engaged here, in terms of finding somebody that they feel like they can really relate to.”
What do the relationship experts have to say?
Stephanie McKenzie, a certified relationship expert told USA TODAY she asks all of her new clients for their birth dates so she can determine their astrological sign.
McKenzie does not think that her clients actually practice or understand astrology themselves but rather may be influenced.
“I don’t think a lot of it comes from personal experience. I think it comes from, reading something or, having an article sent to them being told ‘You’re incompatible with their sign,’ so they go ahead and believe that right off the bat,” McKenzie said.
Jaime Bronstein, a licensed relationship therapist, told USA TODAY it is mainly her female clients who bring up astrology, while males tend to tell her astrology does not matter to them.
“I do think that it does help if you are with a sign where the stars and everything is compatible,” said Bronstein.
Bronstein highlights that when it comes to dating, people do not show their authentic selves initially.
“Sometimes people aren’t exactly what their sign would say that they should be,” said Bronstein.
