A new era at Brighton begins this Saturday with a difficult trip to Liverpool in a full slate of Premier League action.

Italian manager Roberto De Zerbi was hired to lead the Seagulls over the international break after different tenures across Europe.

However, he won’t have an easy introduction as he is making his debut against the Champions League finalists from last season.

This is a big change for a club like Brighton, and I think it is going to take some time for De Zerbi to make his mark in the EPL.

Liverpool

Liverpool fans will be excited to cheer on their side after the Reds had their last two league matches postponed against Wolverhampton Wanderers and Chelsea.

Saturday’s match will be the first domestic game since the 1-1 draw in the Merseyside Derby at Everton on Sept. 3.

The break came at a great time when multiple players were battling injuries. Consequently, this could be one of the first games of the season where manager Jürgen Klopp’s team will be at full strength.

Two of the biggest names to keep an eye on are the return of defender Ibrahima Konate and midfielder Thiago, who are two very important players for Klopp.

Brighton

After successful campaigns under former manager Graham Potter, the big question at Brighton is how the club fare will now that he has left.

The Seagulls played an attractive brand of soccer under Potter, and the hope is that De Zerbi can continue that style on the South Coast.

In his most recent stints, the Italian was the manager at Sassuolo (2018-2022), where he was praised for his team’s possession-based attacking play before joining Shakhtar Donetsk for the 2021 campaign.

He will be under pressure early to keep this great start to the season going, with Brighton entering the weekend in fourth with 13 points and just one loss through six matches.

Betting Analysis & Pick

With the recent change at the top, this is a very difficult game to predict, but I do expect Liverpool to come away with the victory. However, I need to find a better price than the -275 odds that are currently offered on the moneyline at BetMGM.

As a result, my best bet is a Same Game Parlay pairing a win for the Reds with the total falling under 4.5 goals at -135 odds.

If you look at last season, only one of Liverpool’s home league games finished with more than 4.5 goals. Meanwhile, 95 percent of Brighton’s away matches also finished under this same total.

Klopp’s side was also dominant at Anfield, posting the best xGDiff at home in the EPL at +35.4, according to fbref.com.

Once you add in the introduction of a full squad against a side with a new manager, I think this is the spot where you want to back Liverpool to get a home win.
