The Browns will make their first playoff appearance in nearly two decades without their head coach.
The Browns announced Tuesday that head coach Kevin Stefan ski, two coaching staffs and two players tested positive for COVID-19, knocking them out of state in this weekend’s clash between Cleveland and Pittsburgh.

According to ESPN’s Adam Shelter, a defensive backs coach, a tight ends coach, a wide receiver and an offensive lineman have all landed on the COVID-19 list. Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com reports TE coach Drew Petting and DB coach are the two positive coaches, while NFL Network’s Tom Polisher reports offensive lineman Joel Antonio and wide receiver KhaDarel Hodge are the players who they tested positive.

The Browns’ facility will be closed while the league conducts its contact tracing protocols.
The Browns were left without their wide receiver corps in their Week 16 matchups against the Jets after COVID-19 protocols were violated.
Quarterback Baker Mayfield spent time on the COVID-19 list earlier in the season, but was activated after a few days.

Unless Stefan ski’s positive test is actually a false positive, he likely won’t train this weekend while the league conducts its contact tracing procedure. Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com says Stefan ski will miss this Sunday’s game.

As part of Cleveland’s COVID contingency plans, special teams coach Mike Prefer will serve as the team’s head coach in the interim.
